Gameday Post #15: Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays

The Yankees went back and forth with the Texas Rangers Sunday night, but an Eric Chavez single in the 8th inning propelled the Yankees to a 6-5 victory. CC Sabathia labored for the second time in four starts this season. The third-year Yankee went 6 1/3 IP and allowed 4  earned runs while striking out six Rangers. In spite of CC’s relatively slow start, the offense backed him up again. Chavez went 2-for-4 with the GW RBI as he started for Alex Rodriguez at 3B. Russell Martin also added a multi-hit game including a HR, and Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson added home runs of their own. Rafael Soriano picked up his first win in pinstripes with a scoreless 8th and Mariano Rivera picked up his 7th save of the season.

After a travel day yesterday, A.J. Burnett will take the bump tonight against the Blue Jays. He will be opposed by young flamethrower Kyle Drabek, the son of former Pittsburgh Pirates ace Doug Drabek.
